The mural pieces should be applied by an adult or with the help of an adult. Large mural pieces may take more than
one person to apply it successfully to the wall. For very large mural pieces, drape the paper over the tube, adhesive
side up and take to the wall aligning bottom edges first and working up.
Remove artwork from the tube. If still tightly curled, using the tube it came in, roll the pieces around the tube
in the opposite direction. Be careful not to rip or wrinkle the paper. Don't worry about dings in the paper because
they will disappear when the paper absorbs moisture from the adhesive.
Ask your neighborhood wallcovering specialist for adhesive recommendations according to the surface to which you are
applying the mural. In most cases, regular wallpaper paste will work fine. Imaginative Murals™ are printed on high quality paper stock using sun fast inks.
DO NOT SOAK THE PAPER IN WATER, BOOK, OR FOLD!
Place mural (printed side down) on the kraft paper provided. Make sure the back of the pieces and walls are free
from debris which can cause bumps.
Painted Walls: To make removal easier later, you may want to apply Clear Primer/Sizing to the wall. For our
tests on painted walls, we preferred a strippable, non-staining, standard duty wallpaper adhesive for its ease of use
and forgiving qualities if mistakes are made in the positioning or application of adhesive. Before applying the adhesive,
place mural pieces on the wall and mark in a couple of places with pencil where you would like for them to go. Using
a brush or roller, apply the adhesive to the blank side of the mural. Don't forget the edges!! DO NOT BOOK OR FOLD.
Make sure there are no missed areas or they will show up as bubbles when adhered to the wall. Let the mural pieces relax
for about 10 minutes. Reapply paste if areas start to dry and retouch edges.
Vinyl Papered Walls: A couple more steps are required to prepare vinyl surfaces. Place the mural pieces on
the wall and outline them with an erasable pencil. Remove them and paint inside the outlined area with Clear Primer/
Sizing and let dry. Follow product directions. Lightly spritz water onto the back of the mural pieces and let relax
for 10 minutes on the kraft paper provided. DO NOT BOOK OR FOLD. Apply Vinyl-to-Vinyl Adhesive and apply to wall
immediately. Mural pieces will grow slightly. Do not use on Teflon coated papers.
After applying the mural to the wall, use a plastic smoother with rounded corners (so as not to damage the
surface of the mural) to remove excess past and air bubbles. Retouch edges with adhesive if needed. Start in the center
and smooth outward toward the edges. Using a damp, clean cloth, wipe the excess adhesive off the mural and the wall.
Imaginative Murals™ can be cleaned with a damp cloth or paper towel. Cleaning solutions we have tested and approved
for use are 409™, Lysol™, and Windex™, however, refrain from frequent use.
When the time comes to remove the mural, puncture the surface of the mural with a Paper Tiger and using a liquid
stripper (DO NOT USE GEL) thoroughly saturate the mural with the solution. When the paper becomes moist and mushy, scrape
it off the wall.
